In addition, land grant university faculty and staff provide technical assistance and training to the military services in the areas of youth development and technology. Through the 4-H Military Partnerships, Military Children and Youth participate in 4-H Clubs on installations around the world and in their local communities. Description: OregonÂ’s 4-H Wildlife Stewards trains volunteers in building community capacity and working collaboratively with schools and community partners. The program emphasizes facilitative change, not just skill acquisition. This national training model documents the educational and scientific impacts of the project on students, teachers, and communities. Training consist of 24-hour training course; supporting team-based projects for youth; and works exclusively in schools. Volunteers give back 50 hours of volunteer time. Projects that resulted from the collaborations include creating courtyard ponds; bird and butterfly gardens, wetland, woodland and stream restoration projects, and on-site school nurseries.
