With all the "stuff" out there on the internet, you have ready access to millions of resources, but finding what you REALLY need is a challenge! What are quality resources? How do we find what we need, when we need it? Come uncover the secrets of CYFERnet. This is an opportunity to participate in a national training without the expense of travel or long distance phone charges. The Centra system is a web-based conferencing technology that requires a computer (not Mac compatible) and Internet access.

Topic: Uncover the Secrets of CYFERnet: Materials, Training, and More
Audience: National, state and county Extension educators and staff working with limited resource audiences.
What: Centra is a synchronous web delivery tool for conducting virtual or "live" events through the Internet using visuals and two-way audio. To maximize the full potential of a "live" event, a PC (not compatible with MACs) Internet connection, Internet Explorer or Netscape, and a mic/headset combo or speakers and a microphone are required.

That's where CYFERnet can help you. CYFERnet's Web site brings together the best, children, youth, and family resources of all the public land-grant universities in the country. Materials are carefully reviewed by college and university faculty. Find out more about using CYFERnet to:

What You Need to Attend:

  1. You will be sent (via email from Sonja Jo Serna) a link to a small free software download that must be put on your computer. Follow this link before the training.
  2. Look at the CYFERnet website (www.cyfernet.org) before the conference.

Highly Recommended:

  1. Computer headset with microphone. Sets cost about $15. Without the headsets you can listen to others and use text messaging but you will not be able to participate verbally.
  2. High speed Internet connection. Because this training is using the technologies of Centra and Web Safari your learning experience will be greater if you have a high speed connection.
