With the recent hurricanes in the Gulf region, most Americans are feeling the affects. This distance education training, offered via Centra Symposium web conferencing, will feature specialist working to help the hurricane victims rebuild their lives – whether it be in the place they lived before or in a new place, relocated from lost homes, work, family, friends and many things that provided familiarity and stability. This training will give you an opportunity to hear about how the hurricanes have emotionally effected families and communities, and what might be needed to support or even rebuild the strength and resiliency of these families; some of the financial ramifications of the storms and how we can help victims rebuild financial stability; and some of the realities of disaster recovery from rebuilding infrastructure to what FEMA can and can’t provide.

More about CENTRA:

CENTRA provides enterprise software and services for real-time communication, collaboration & learning over the Web, with self-service meetings, Web seminars, virtual classes and more. It allows two-way audio and visuals over the Internet. The only items needed to participate in a CENTRA training session are: a PC (not compatible with MACs), Internet connection (high speed connection with Internet Explorer browser recommended), and a microphone/headset combo -OR- speakers and microphone. CENTRA also requires a small plug-in that is downloaded on the computer that you will be using for the event. Once you have registered for the event, you will get a username and a password to access CENTRA. You will also be sent procedures to setup and do a system check for your CENTRA software.

Highly Recommended:

  1. Computer headset with microphone. Sets cost about $15. Without the headsets you can listen to others and use text messaging but you will not be able to participate verbally.
  2. High speed Internet connection. Because this training is using the technologies of Centra and Web Safari your learning experience will be greater if you have a high speed connection.
