  • Introduce software 5 minutes; users use AutoContent Wizard or design template, let users work with software 30 minutes.
  • Reluctant users may be engaged by shorter work periods and more frequent instruction periods. These may be user led discussion and sharing periods.
  • Have users work of teams of 2 to 4 to develop a presentation. Two 40 minute sessions would be minimum for engaged users.

  • What are the key elements in an electronic screen presentation? (purpose, color, movement are three)
  • What strategies were successful in designing a presentation?
  • What skills are needed to design an electronic screen presentation? In what kind of career would these be helpful?
  • What strategies did you use for learning software?
  • What was the biggest advantage of working together? What was the biggest disadvantage of teamwork? How did you overcome the disadvantage?
  • Apply
  • Design an after school site home page or site presentation for parents.
  • Choose 3 or 4 web sites and ask users teams of 2 to 4 to critique them for elements identified in reflection (purpose, color, movement or others.)
  • Hold a PowerPoint extemporaneous contest. Allow single users or teams of users (up to 4) to work creating a PowerPoint presentation for 1 to 1 ½ hours. Users might be encouraged to do research on the Web for photos, clip art, etc. Ask a community leader or site supporter to serve as judge.

  • Have users volunteer to develop an electronic screen presentation about a youth group, neighborhood group, or community issue.
  • Ask a community member to share their PowerPoint presentation. Ideas are teachers, Extension staff member, community development staff member.
  • Extended Activities
  • Develop a site newspaper using communication skills developed.
  • Volunteer to serve as campaign staff for a local candidate or for a local issue. Develop campaign theme, flyers, buttons, talking points.
  • Plan a site event-an open house or field trip. Use planning skills developed in designing presentation.
