Setting
  • Youth can work on software individually or as a team. Work can be done at the program setting or from home. If a limited number of computers are available hands-on activities can be done as activity stations in conjunction with computer station(s).
  • Computer activities with wrap around hands-on activities can become a day/residential camp, or after-school program over several weeks.
  • A hands-on activity is provided to supplement each scenario option found in the software.

  • Use reflection questions that are part of each hands-on activity.
  • Use the general questions for reflection at the completion of each software scenario.
Apply
  • Activity: Get Your Hands on DNA
  • Activity: Jelly Genes
  • Software: "March of the Mutants" try out the scenario
  • Activity/Software: Create Your Own Species Contest-Create your own environment and 10 species and try to keep your environment running for two years (in Simlife time!).
More Activities
  • Use software such as SimCity or SimFarm to created other simulated environments.
  • Use software such as BioLab Fly, Genetics and Heredity: The Blueprint of Life, and Genetics Version 1.0 to learn more about genetics and heredity.
