Suicide Prevention Week is observed September 10-16, 2006 and World Suicide Prevention Day is September 10, 2006. Over 30,000 Americans commit suicide every year and many more attempt suicide. For Americans between the ages of 10 and 24, suicide is the third leading cause of death. Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college students in the United States.
