thin blue line

May 1-8, 2004 is National SAFE KIDS Week. The National SAFE KIDS Campaign (http://www.safekids.org/index.cfm) is sponsoring Safe Kids Week by offering a Water safety checklist, Child Passenger Safety Certification Program and other resources all geared to ensuring the safety of children.

The National Safety Council provides a variety of fact sheets on summer safety topics. Bicycle is a big activity for youth during out-of school hours. The Safe Bicycling, (http://www.nsc.org/library/facts/bicycle.htm) fact sheet provides tips on doing it right. It encourages all bicyclers to wear their helmets. Protect Yourself ... Wear a Helmet! (http://www.nsc.org/library/facts/helmets.htm) fact sheet offers fitting suggestions. Helmets are also recommended along with other padding when Skateboarding (http://www.nsc.org/library/facts/sktebord.htm) and Inline Skating (http://www.nsc.org/library/facts/inline.htm).

And, the beginning of summer would not be complete without reviewing Sun Safety (http://www.nsc.org/library/facts/sunsafet.htm) and Water Safety (http://www.nsc.org/library/facts/drown.htm) fact sheets.
