CYFERnet has many resources that can help parents communicate with children
and teens. Check out some of these resources
Parents should not wait until the teenage years to talk to their kids about sex. The University of Missouri-Columbia Extension has published several fact sheets for parents about sexuality and children from ages 0 to 3 years , 3 to 7 years , and 10 to 14 years.
Many resources are available for helping parents talk to their teens about sex. The University of Minnesota Extension Service has a series of five fact sheets about how to talk to teenagers about a variety of risk behaviors including sex. The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service has two fact sheets guiding parents on how to teach their sons and daughters about sexuality.
Another valuable resource is "Talking with Kids: A Parent's Guide to Sex Education" produced by the National Parent Teachers Association. Finally, Advocates for Youth has an extensive site, Parents' Sex Ed Center, with many tips, fact sheets, and articles for parents.
